En clase: 
We listened to a song today called, “Bonito” by Jarabe de Palo. You can see the lyrics by clicking here.

Later we learned about subject pronouns and the verb ser. I have a handout that explains these two concepts.

Tarea:

For homework I have a worksheet that practices using the correct subject pronoun and the reverse side is practice choosing the correct form of the verb ser.

Today we practiced family vocabulary and then learned about how to use adjectives to describe them. I have a guide for you to follow and learn how to use Spanish adjectives correctly. Click here to download that file. I also passed out new adjective vocabulary.

Today we started out by interpreting a comic strip that helped us practice old vocabulary and to recognize cognates. This was an in-class exercise and is not necessary for homework.

I handed out the grade tracking sheet, El Progresso deHabilidades. I passed back assessment 2, but I am still waiting to pass back assessment 3 until everyone has taken the quiz.

We also corrected the homework from Friday and talked more about family vocabulary.

Friday we took a quiz over Standard 3: Los artículos y los números and over Standard 2: la escuela.  If you missed Friday please come in to take this quiz by Tuesday.  

After the quiz I passed out our new vocabulary list- La familia.  On the back side of the list was a homework to practice the new vocabulary.

Today we spent time reviewing articles (definite and indefinite). We also talked more about the word “HAY”(there is, there are). Follow this link to see the lecture notes on my DP. We also did a speaking activity that practices this concept. If you were absent, it is still good practice to answer the questions on the second page of the lecture notes.

Homework:

I passed out a homework sheet that also is a study guide for theassessment. Please do this homework, it is an excellent indicator of how you will perform on the assessment.

Today we learned another song to practice our definite (el, la, los, las) articles and our indefinite articles (un, una, unos, unas). You can hear the song at http://zachary-jones.com/zambombazo/clozeline/clozeline-2008/. We followed along with the lyrics and filled in the appropriate articles in the worksheet. Although not required, if you would like the worksheet you would need to get a hard copy from me.

I passed out a graphic organizer to help with selecting the correct article. I also talked about how to identify nouns by gender. I have a handout that explains this. You will also need to get this hard copy from me.

Homework:
On the back side of the graphic organizer is the homework tonight. It deals with identifying the gender and articles of nouns. Click here to see the homework for tonight.

Today we learned about Mexican Independence Day by listening to the song "Biografía musical de Miguel Hidalgo."  Follow along with the lyrics by clicking here. 

We started a new vocabulary unit, los números.  I passed out a handout on how to say the numbers 1 - 100.  On the backside of the handout are math problems to practice the numbers.

Today we talked about definite articles (el, la, los, las) and indefinite articles (un, una, unos, unas). I have a copy of the lecture notesso that you can follow along. I passed out a homework assignment that will help you practice using articles.

You will not be expected to know this new material for the assessment tomorrow. The new homework will help you review the school vocab, but I will only be assessing you on the vocab list I assigned earlier this week.

Today we finished learning the 4 basic rules of pronunciation and listened to the song, "Cuando Los
Ángeles Lloran". For homework you only need to complete the second part of the worksheet found on the last page of this document.

Today we learned the correct pronunciation of the Spanish alphabet and I passed out a chart with the abecedario.  We also learned about four basic rules of pronunciation that explains on which syllable to add the emphasis when pronouncing Spanish words.

For homework I assigned a Vocabulario de la escuela matching exercise to practice for a quiz we will have on Friday.

Today we took the assessment over los saludos y las despedidas. If you were absent today you will need to take this on Thursday during either my Spanish Help SIG or during my office hours.

We are starting a new vocabulary unit, la escuela. For homework I have a crucigrama, a crossword puzzle, that you will need to get from me in person because I do not have a digital copy. To get a copy of the school vocabulary click here.

Today we talked more about los saludos y las despedidas and I assigned a double sided worksheet to practice these phrases.  Page 1 we will look over on Friday, Page 2 will be for Monday.  Also, we will have our first assessment over this material this upcoming Monday, 9/10.
